13,000 jobless benefit from First discount

First Glasgow has confirmed that 13,000 job seekers across Greater Glasgow have benefitted from bus fare discounts thanks to a discounted ticket trial on board its buses. In partnership with Jobcentre Plus, the operator is offering up to 55% off the cost of an equivalent single journey. Job seekers travel from just £1 in the city or £2 across its wider network. The trial is extended until 28 September 2014.

First Glasgow’s MD, Fiona Kerr, said, ‘If we can help more people to get into employment by making it more affordable for job seekers to get around, then it benefits not just the individuals but the wider economy. So I’m pleased that our trial in offering discounts to job seekers is proving to be so successful.’
