First invests £5m in Lanarkshire

First has invested £5m into its 201 route connecting Airdrie, Coatbridge, Bellshill, Motherwell, Hamilton, Blantyre and East Kilbride. It has bought 31 ADL Enviro300s for the service, which feature leather seats, free Wi-fi and easy access for wheelchairs and buggies.

First Lanarkshire’s MD, Fiona Kerr, said, ‘This is great news for our customers, our fleet of 31 specially route branded new buses have the latest features to ensure our customers travel in enhanced comfort and style. We want to provide the best possible journey experience for our customers and we recognise that more of our customers want to stay connected while on the move, which is why we are also providing free Wi-fi.’

On top of its investment in new buses, First Lanarkshire has also launched a recruitment drive for PCV holders to apply to the company for a number of bus driver positions based at its Blantyre and Overtown depots.
