Worksop’s new bus station plan

Plans for a new £3.2m bus station for Worksop have taken a step closer to realisation, having been put before Nottinghamshire County Council’s Planning and Licencing Committee. The new bus station will be located at the junction of Newcastle Street and Watson Road, on part of the Queen Street car park and will replace the existing bus stops on Hardy Street and Ryton Street. The County Council says it has been working closely with Stagecoach and Bassetlaw District Council whilst planning the facility. If approved, work on the bus station will start this summer and it will open in spring 2015. It will use design elements used at other recently opened Nottinghamshire County Council bus stations such as those at Retford, Newark and Mansfield. Features will include a staffed information point, toilets, seating, electronic information screens and CCTV, as well as eight bus bays catering for existing demand and future growth. Running costs will be shared between the County Council and Bassetlaw District Council.
