Traveller’s Choice takes on Battersby

Carnforth based The Traveller’s Choice have announced they will be taking over the business of Harrisons Coaches (Morecambe) Ltd, trading as Battersby Silver Grey. The deal was due to be formally completed at lunchtime on 28 January 2015. The agreement sees the company take on Battersby’s fleet of 18 vehicles, as well as lease the acquired operator’s existing site and continue the employment of its staff. The Traveller’s Choice MD, John Shaw, said that for the time being the Morecambe based Battersby business will be ran as it currently is, with no changes. A planning meeting is scheduled for later this month, at which future plans for the operation will be discussed. John Shaw described the deal as a ‘last minute thing’. It had been reported elsewhere that Reays Coaches of Cumbria were taking over the operation but the proposed deal was not finalised.
