Stephensons deploys TransMach across entire fleet
Stephensons of Essex has deployed TransMach’s TM500 fixed ETM on all of its 150 vehicles.
Having selected TransMach’s TM500 machine for its local subsidiary NIBS Buses in 2023, Stephensons of Essex, which is now owned by an employee trust, has now installed the Android-based machines on its entire fleet.

The ETM upgrade facilitates contactless travel on all the operator’s scheduled routes and private school services across Essex, Cambridgeshire and West Suffolk. TransMach’s support package includes a mobile app as standard for operational use which allows transport managers to monitor services and stay in touch with drivers more efficiently. The system features a bespoke online school portal ‘ScholarSmart’, which not only improves boarding speed and convenience but also protects revenue.
Furthermore, TransMach’s Cloud based back-office system enables Stephensons of Essex to manage BODS compliance, revenue, schedule adherence, passenger loading and service performance.
