Stagecoach results

Like for like passenger journeys on Stagecoach’s UK regional bus network fell by 1.7%, according to the Group’s recent trading update in respect of its financial year ending 29 April 2017. According to the operator, this decrease was largely as a result of weak underlying local economic conditions in some parts of the UK and sustained lower fuel prices. The statement said, ‘We continually review and adjust our bus networks in response to changing demand.’ It is continuing with its digital investment programme, expanding contactless payments for bus travel, amongst other measures, in an effort to further enhance the quality of its bus and coach services. In its London bus operations, revenue was 0.9% below the equivalent prior year period, reflecting the contract tenders concluded in that year.
