Stagecoach marks VE Day

Stagecoach South provided a specially liveried bus for a group of residents heading to a celebration marking the 70th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day at Shoreham’s British Legion Club in Buckingham Road, Shoreham. The bus, based at the company’s Worthing depot is painted battleship grey and green, based on the wartime livery of Stagecoach’s predecessor, Southdown Motor services. It was used to carry residents of Heather House in Lancing, West Sussex, to the event and is to be used on the Coastliner 700 route coast between Brighton and Portsmouth for the remainder of the year. Stagecoach will be organising and participating in a number of events to commemorate Southdown’s 100th anniversary. The next big event will be a bus rally in June for which a search for the longest serving Southdown employee is underway.
