Robin Hood Travel closing after ‘much thought and consideration’

Management at Robin Hood Travel are retiring and closing the business.

Staff at the Staffordshire-based business finish on 5 August 2025, with vehicles and garage contents to be auctioned on Saturday 30 August at its premises (Highway Garage, Macclesfield Road, Rudyard, Staffordshire, ST13 8PS) by Malcolmn Harrison Auctions.

According to a letter sent to staff, the decision was made after ‘much thought and consideration’. Directors, David Eyre and Christine Rose, both have family but none wish to carry on with the business, having taken different career paths.

“Staff have all secured employment with local companies which I am pleased about” – Christine Rose, Robin Hood Travel

On the news of the closure, Christine Rose told B&CB: “The response from the local area has been quite overwhelming, as we are a local company.

“Staff have all secured employment with local companies which I am pleased about.

“Local companies will be covering our private hire and holidays that we have booked until Christmas.”

The letter to staff said: “Founded over 60 years ago by our parents Ron and Mary Eyre, this company has been a huge part of our lives – and we are incredibly proud of everything it has achieved.
“Robin Hood Travel’s success would not have been possible without the dedication of the best staff any company could hope for. They truly are ‘Team Robin Hood’ and we are endlessly grateful for their commitment, hard work and loyalty.”

Christine said there is ‘such a lovely atmosphere’ at Robin Hood Travel and she will ‘miss everyone’.
