RATP’s ‘very sound’ results

RATP Group described its 2013 operating and financial results as ‘very sound’. The French transport provider, whose RATP Dev subsidiary owns bus operations in the UK, recorded consolidated revenue of £4.3bn/€5.143bn in the year, up 4.2% from 2012’s result of £4.1bn/€4.934bn. RATP Dev’s contribution to Group revenue amounted to £699.6m/€835m, up 16.6%, with its profitability rising by 52%. This was despite the negative impact of £24.3m/€29m as a result of exchange rates, in particular with GBP. It now boasts a workforce of nearly 14,000 employees. The UK is its leading zone of activity, operating Yellow Buses, Epsom Coaches, Quality Line, London United and Manchester’s Metrolink tram network.

President and Chief Executive, Pierre Mongin, said, ‘Results generated by RATP Group for 2013 are solid and fully in line with the objectives we set in our Vision 2020 plan. The group has profited from the dynamic activity of its subsidiaries, its second pillar, and particularly from outside France, as well as operations optimisation by staff members to achieve a record profitability level in Europe with EBIT at 10.3% of revenue, whilst unremittingly improving the quality of service to its clients.’
