Phillips International director publishes ‘The Glorious M6’

Phillips International Travel director, Julian Phillips, has published a booked called The Glorious M6. It is now available to order from all bookshops and online retailers.

The book is a 124-page guide to places of interest that can be seen from or visited within a short drive from junctions of the M6 motorway.

Although sections of this motorway have a reputation for congestion and tedium, the positives of the M6 far outweigh the negatives, according to its author.

A statement from Phillips International said: “There are many treasures to be seen along this mighty stretch of motorway, or visited within a few minutes’ drive from many of its junctions. From Roman roads and medieval castles to Victorian ingenuity and nuclear power stations. From best-selling authors and chart-topping bands to iconic television series and films. The M6 has something for everyone.”

The book’s chapters are named according to the junctions of Britain’s longest motorway, starting at the Catthorpe Interchange, and finishing at Junction 45 on the Scottish border.

The statement continued: “Motorways are not just mundane concrete infrastructure that facilitate journeys from A to B, they are tapestries woven between communities and across eras of history, and the M6 has 232 miles worth of tapestry filled with stories to tell.”

Like Julian’s first book, The Glorious M5, this book was mostly written during the Covid lockdown. As restrictions eased, he went back to work driving Phillips International’s coach full time but had gradually been editing the manuscript since then until ready for publication.
