New Stonehenge coach park approved

A 26 space coach park at Stonehenge Visitor Centre has been approved by Wiltshire Council. This is in addition to the current 30 spaces. English Heritage is to convert farmland near the existing coach park. The plans include the introduction of a newly created pedestrian route, as well as a number of improvements to the main facilities available to group tours.

CPT has welcomed the proposed increase to the number of coach parking spaces available at Stonehenge. Commenting on the proposal, CPT’s Coaching Manager, Andy Warrender, said, ‘Each year Wiltshire welcomes over 1m visitors from around the globe to Stonehenge, one of the most famous sites in the world. With approximately 60% of these visitors arriving by coach or as part of a group, it is vitally important that the attraction continues to review its access and parking facilities in order to meet levels of demand. Increasing the number of available parking spaces will not only make for a more comfortable and enjoyable visit for those arriving by coach, but it will have a positive impact on road safety, vehicle emissions and congestion in the local area. World renowned attractions deserve top class facilities and these proposed changes will undoubtedly improve the visitor experience for all.’
