New buses for Daventry

Stagecoach Midlands has completed its £5.6m investment in 37 new single deckers operated out of its Northampton depot. The latest batch of nine new ADL Enviro200s will be used on Daventry’s main bus network comprising routes D1/D2 (The Grange Estate, Danetre Hospital and Southbrook to Daventry town centre and Northampton) and D3 (Lang Farm, Ashby Fields and Danetre Hospital to Daventry town centre and Northampton). The routes provide three buses an hour between Daventry and Northampton running via Dodford, Weedon, Flore and Sixfields. Route D3 also links Nether Heyford, Bugbrooke, Kislingbury and Harpole to both Daventry and Northampton. These join the 28 new buses launched in January and early February on Northampton routes 5, 8, 10, 12 and 15.

MD of Stagecoach Midlands, Steve Burd, said, ‘We have heavily invested in our services in Northampton and we are now doing the same in Daventry. We believe that by continually improving the quality of our service, we will encourage more people to leave their cars at home for at least some journeys and to try the bus.’

Member of Parliament for Daventry, Chris Heaton-Harris, said, ‘I am delighted to see Stagecoach invest in these new buses, which provide vital links for the residents of Daventry and many of the villages on route to Northampton. This substantial investment will greatly improve local public transport and shows Stagecoach’s commitment to bus services in the area. The accessibility that these new buses offer, will greatly benefit many passengers, particularly the disabled and elderly”
