NCT fare changes

Nottingham City Transport (NCT) is introducing changes to some of its on bus fares on 30 March. It was June 2011 when NCT last increased its fares in the City Area. Since that time, the company has absorbed an 18p per litre increase in the cost of diesel, the BSOG reduction and a doubling in its insurance bill to over £1m per year.

NCT Marketing Manager, Anthony Carver-Smith, said, ‘Despite these cost increases obviously hitting us hard, we recognised that our customers were also being squeezed because of wages remaining the same, the cost of living going up, benefits being cut, etc. We were determined to ensure that bus travel wouldn’t be yet another area of life that was becoming more expensive, and so we made it our policy to freeze fares for as

long as we possibly could and we’ve managed to freeze them for almost three years.’

Information about the fare changes is available online at https://www.nctx.co.uk/ and will be on buses from this weekend.
