Kings Lynn station upgrade underway

An upgrade of Kings Lynn’s bus station is well underway. Taxi ranks have been relocated to enable more efficient and effective use of the bus station area for operators. As part of a £1.6m regeneration project, the old canopy at the front of the information office has been removed and changes to its internal layout have taken place, whilst refurbishment of the ladies’ toilets has also started. This work will be followed by similar work to the men’s toilets and installation of new glazing to the building. The Borough Council and Norfolk County Council have been working closely with bus and coach operators and hackney carriage representatives to ensure they can continue to deliver their services to people throughout the construction period. Work has also commenced to widen the footpath down Waterloo Street to improve the pedestrian link between the bus station and rail station.

Cabinet Member for Housing and Community, Cllr Adrian Lawrence, said, ‘This is a major project, which we are carrying out in a phased way to minimise disruption. I am pleased with the progress so far and hope that people feel informed about the changes taking place and where to get further information if they need it. So far, everything is on track for a mid-June finish, at which time people will be able to look forward to a much-improved experience when they arrive in town by public transport.’
