King’s Ferry orders three more i6s

National Express owned The King’s Ferry has ordered three more Irizar i6 Integral coaches. The 12.2m 49-seaters to the Kent based operator’s exacting specification follow the purchase of an i6 VIP tri-axle last year, which was the first Euro6 Irizar i6 Integral sold by Irizar UK. The three coaches will be DDA compliant, with destination screens front and back, as well as a side mounted wheelchair lift. Due to be delivered in the summer, they will be powered by DAF’s Paccar MX11-271 Euro6 engine coupled to a ZF EcoLife six-speed fully automatic transmission.
The King’s Ferry’s MD, Ian Fraser, said, ‘The i6 Integral we bought last year is performing above expectation, so we see the purchase of three more as carrying no risk and we believe we will see a strong improvement on fuel economy.’

Irizar UK’s Commercial Director, Steve O’Neill, said, ‘We are very pleased The King’s Ferry has come back to us for some of its mainstream fleet replacement. This order also demonstrates the flexibility of the i6 coach, and of the factory, in precisely meeting the most demanding specification.’
