King Alfred running day scheduled for January
Friends of King Alfred Buses (FoKAB) is to run services on Bank Holiday Monday 3 January 2022 in Winchester.
In keeping with the policy of recent years, the main Running Day will be in the spring on Bank Holiday Monday 2 May 2022. A smaller operation involving around six King Alfred vehicles will again take place on 3 January 2022. As usual, the bus services will be centred on the Broadway in Winchester with the first journey leaving at 9.15am and the last at 4.20pm.
A particular feature this year is the planned use for the first time since major renovation of King Alfred 1970 Leyland Panther UOU 419H. This vehicle has seen an extensive and costly structural rebuild followed by repainting in its original livery, including authentic branding, lettering and advertisements.
