Jansen Travel ceases at short notice

Cumbria-based Jansen Travel has ceased trading.

Local press reports suggest the operator’s plans to cease trading at the end of this month were changed at short notice, with the company announcing it would stop immediately.

The operator’s website says it is closed for business and its Facebook page is not responsive.

News outlets have noted that almost all of the 351 school children lacking home-to-school transport due to the closure have now had replacement services put in place. Cumbria County Council has been contacted regarding these service replacements, but at the time of writing no reply had been received.

Founded in 1994, the business provided coach hire from its base in Rowrah in the western Lake District. According to its LinkedIn page, its fleet had grown to 22 coaches and minibuses since it started. It has an operators’ licence to run 15 vehicles, which is valid until 31 December 2022. The Transport Manager is listed as Carl Jansen, who is also a Director of the business alongside Dawn Jansen.

Bus and Coach Buyer has contacted Jansen Travel, but had not received a response at the time of publishing.
