Hulleys of Baslow to cease trading
Derbyshire operator, Hulleys of Baslow, is due to cease trading tomorrow (Wednesday 26 March 2025).
Earlier this month, Derbyshire County Council stripped the operator of seven of its supported bus services due to what the council described as ‘poor service’. The new operators for these routes are Ashbourne Community Transport (110/111), Andrew’s of Tideswell (172,173,178), Stagecoach Yorkshire (63) and Linburg Coach Travel (257). All four operators will start running these services on Thursday 28 March, with timetables remaining unchanged.
Hulleys of Baslow runs a number of commercial services too.
“We have been concerned about the reliability of their services for some time” – Derbyshire County Council’s Executive Director for Place, Chris Henning
Derbyshire County Council’s Executive Director for Place, Chris Henning, said: “We have been concerned about the reliability of their services for some time and took the decision a few weeks ago to find other operators for the ones that the council pay for, in the hope that this would enable them to concentrate on their commercial services. Sadly this has not turned out to be the case.
“We are pleased that we have new operators for our services and are hopeful that the commercial routes they ran will be picked up very soon. We also hope that the rest of our local bus companies will be able to offer jobs to those employed by Hulleys.”

Hulleys of Baslow has served the Peak District since 1921. It has an operator’s licence for 19 PCVs.
