Golden Boy’s ‘Terry Senior’

After a tour of Irizar’s Spanish factory, Hertfordshire based Golden Boy decided to buy a 12.9m i6 Integral from Irizar UK. The latest addition to its fleet has 53 PB seats, extra marker lights and a built-in vacuum cleaner in addition to the climate control system, twin-screen DVD and other refinements that come as standard on the i6. It is powered by a DAF Paccar 410bhp MX300 engine and has the ZF AS-Tronic autoshift gearbox. The timing of the order coincided, sadly, with the loss of Terry and Geraldine McIntyre’s dad, also Terry. To mark his passing, the coach carries the name ‘Terry Senior’.

MD, Terry McIntyre, said, ‘We have a tradition of the vehicles being named ‘Master John’ and after other family members, so it seemed appropriate. Dad was active in the business until the day he passed on. We are well known for operating Van Hools but wanted a cost-effective way of maintaining our low fleet age, which currently averages three and a half years. We didn’t see the i6 as being a frontline continental tourer but it has already been to Bruges. It has given us no trouble at all, though we have operated it just six weeks so far.’
Irizar UK supplied the coach.
