Funding to continue for school transport

More funding to help create extra transport capacity to ensure school children get to school and college safely is to be made available.

The move follows the £40m provided for this during the first half of the autumn term. This funding will continue into the second half of the autumn term.

A Department for Education spokesperson said: “We provided more than £40 million for the first half of the autumn term to help local transport authorities create extra capacity outside the public transport network, ensuring children and young people could get back to schools and colleges safely.
“This funding will continue into the second half of the autumn term and we will confirm local allocations in due course.”
