Former-Aston Martin man joins Wrightbus

Wrightbus has appointed Aston Martin’s former engineering chief to the role of Group Chief Technology Officer.

With over 30 years of experience across a diverse range of automotive companies, Paul Thomas brings a unique blend of hands-on technical expertise and strategic leadership to Wrightbus.

Beginning his career as a heavy goods mechanic, Paul developed a practical understanding of vehicle systems and engineering fundamentals. This foundation paved the way for a career that has included senior roles at some of the world’s most innovative automotive companies, including Tesla, Byton, Rimac Technology and Verne. Across these roles, he contributed to groundbreaking advancements in electric mobility, high-performance vehicle design, and next-generation transport technologies.

At Wrightbus, Paul now leads the company’s technology strategy, overseeing the development of zero-emission buses and sustainable transport solutions that are transforming public mobility.
