First’s tourism scheme hailed success

First Midland Bluebird’s launch of the ‘Stirling City Pass’ has been hailed a success by organisers. It was launched this summer in support of tourism body, Destination Stirling, in partnership with the city’s top attractions. Using technology pioneered in York, where 11,000 similar passes are sold each year, the Stirling City Pass has been described as a ‘significant step forward’ in retaining visitors passing through the city. It offers digitally enabled joint ticketing and transport between the area’s historic attractions. Additionally, a hop-on hop-off bus operated by First is said to have significantly improved the accessibility of key heritage sites for Stirling’s visitors. During the summer months, the service had nearly 3,000 passengers. The company has invested a £10m in new vehicles in the past two years, with an improved fleet serving Stirling, Falkirk, West Lothian, Edinburgh and the Borders.

MD of First Midland Bluebird, Paul McGowan, said, ‘Visitors to the area have been able to travel to and from Stirling’s top destinations safely and smoothly with this great new service. As the local bus operator, we’ve invested significantly in improving services in and around the city and the City Pass launched with Destination Stirling has brought more great news for passengers.’
