D&G takes on Baker Bus

D&G Bus has agreed to take over bus operations from Guideissue Ltd, Trading as Baker Bus. The acquisition included routes, assets, vehicles and the transfer of staff as of 11 January 2015. The date has been confirmed by the Traffic Commissioner. D&G Bus have recently moved to a new Bus Depot in Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, and its Directors believe the purchase will be beneficial to the future of the business and provide stability going forward. No change in service was planned during the changeover period. It will be ‘business as usual’ for the related Bakers Coaches and Bakers Holidays fleets.

D&G MD, David Reeves, said, ‘The Baker Routes and their Staff will play an important part in the sustainability of our new depot and for the Company. We are delighted to have completed the purchase process and welcome all staff to D&G. These are exciting times for D&G.’
Bakers’ Sales and Marketing Manager, Stephanie Dean, said, ‘The acquisition allows both companies to concentrate on driving forward their key business into 2015. We are extremely pleased that within this deal we have been able to safeguard the jobs and working conditions of our driving staff. This streamlining will allow Bakers Coaches to continue the development and investment in the coaching fleet in order to strengthen the core business. Looking ahead, 2015 will be an exciting year for Bakers Travel.’
