‘Dawn of a new era’ – Enviro400s for Tomorrow’s Travel

Alexander Dennis has supplied two Enviro400 double-deckers to Tomorrows Travel in what the operator describes as ‘the dawn of a new era’ for coach hire in Dorset.

The double deckers are equipped with 85 seats and fitted with three-point seatbelts, the manufacturer’s new digital cockpit, privacy glass, a PSVAIR-prepared PA and sound system, Journeo CCTV system and Alcoa DuraBright alloy wheels. The vehicles are driven through a performance-uprated Cummins ISB engine and Voith DIWA.6 gearbox to cater for the operator’s long-distance work, providing motorway-speed capability with ease.

The new Enviro400 will replace older vehicles in the Tomorrows Travel fleet.

“The investment allows us to make engineering savings, simplify our fleet, head off reliability issues with older buses, while improving our image to clients across all business functions” – Jay Thornton, Commercial & Engineering Director at Tomorrows Travel Group

Jay Thornton, Commercial & Engineering Director at Tomorrows Travel Group, said: “This year’s investment in bus and coach assets signifies everything we have stood for since founding the business in April 2023: offering our clients good quality, choice and reliability, while making smart business investments for the future in a competitive but broad marketplace.

“We had invested in ‘upcycling’ midlife buses to fit our coaching environment and this has served us well, but with the demand and mileage on our vehicles increasing by thousands of miles each month, decisions need to be made and these purchases are the solution to offset some future problems, with the added value of the Alexander Dennis extended driveline warranty adding a further support element into the business.

“Our clients have looked to us for quality, reliable, high-capacity solutions for longer distances alongside our executive coach fleet and we have delivered every time. We recognised there was a need over want to shift towards a brand-new ‘decker fleet earlier than we initially anticipated to counteract future problems with operating older vehicles on front line work for long hours at distance, while ensuring all of our fleet is seat belted and distance capable in comfort.

“The investment allows us to make engineering savings, simplify our fleet, head off reliability issues with older buses, while improving our image to clients across all business functions, from events and festivals to contracts and private hire. Our team work very hard and the results shown here in the business are testament to our team’s hard work.”

“The Enviro400 has long been a popular product with operators large and small, both bus and coach” – Jason Cousins, Operations & Finance Director of Tomorrows Travel Group

Jason Cousins, Operations & Finance Director of Tomorrows Travel Group, added: “The Enviro400 is a proactive investment for us, we don’t want to be reactive to rising costs that are inevitable with running older vehicles, or acquire vehicles in a condition that are not to our standard. We need the best years these vehicles have to offer and we have committed to brand new investments slightly earlier than we had planned to bolster the business that we can move forward with and develop in the current shifting and competitive climate.

“The Enviro400 has long been a popular product with operators large and small, both bus and coach. With high capacity, low height, long wheelbase versions being invested in by coach operators to assist with the ever-increasing demand of higher capacity work in the industry.

“We committed to investing in the Enviro400 during the winter period and these vehicles will serve as a good all-rounder capable of both urban and interurban conditions.

“Many thanks to Universal Asset Finance for their continued support and to Mark Taylor at Alexander Dennis for his proactive and committed approach to integrating their flagship product into Tomorrows Travel.”
