CPT releases restructuring proposals

CPT plans to remain in London for the time being, according to a consultation document outlining proposed changes. The announcement follows some speculation over the future shape of the CPT in recent weeks after it was learnt it is discussing a restructuring of the organisation.

CPT’s head office is to stay put in its current Chancery House location in London until March 2021, according to its plans. After that, it will be reviewed whether the organisation will move premises. The CPT Scotland office is to remain in Edinburgh.

CPT has proposed that a new External Relations Unit be established with effect from 31 March 2019, which would be directly managed by the Chief Executive. The plan is for the unit to be responsible for engagement with Government, public affairs, communications and media relations strategies to ensure CPT UK is a more effective trade association. It will lead policy development and drive a communication strategy. It will consist of the Chief Executive/Director of External Relations, Policy Manager, External Relations Manager and Administrator.

• A new Operations & Member Services Unit is proposed, which would be established with effect from 31 March 2019. It is intended to deliver a broad range of services and support to members in meeting the challenges which lie ahead for the industry.
• A new Chief Executive is proposed to be recruited by 30 June 2019.
• It is proposed that the CPT UK Constitutional and Committee structure remains in place.
• The existing CPT Regions within England, together with CPT Scotland and CPT Wales are planned to remain in place. It is proposed that the seven English Regions are supported by a new network of locally based Regional Executives to be established by 31 March 2019
• CPT plans to explore more modern means of communicating with members. This recognises that many members have less time to attend face to face meetings.
• No alterations to membership fees are expected as part of the changes.

CPT members’ opinions on these proposals are being sought, with the consultation closing 30 November 2018.
