In the third quarter ended 30 September 2013, ComfortDelGro’s revenue increased by 8.6% to £487.5m/SGD978.4m and its operating profit went up by 4.8% to £60.99m/SGD122.4m. At Group level, third quarter revenue for the bus business increased by 14.1% to £252.2m/SGD506.1m, boosted mainly by maiden contributions from Metroline West in the UK. Revenue from the bus business in the UK increased by 38.6% to £100.8m/SGD202.3m with the newly acquired Metroline West contributing £27m/SGD54.2m. Revenue from ComfortDelGro Bus fell by 6.8% to £2.7m/SGD5.5m. For the quarter, revenue and operating profit from the overseas bus operations accounted for 63.9% and 88.7% respectively of the total Group bus figures. In the UK, the Singapore based company operates Metroline Ltd, Armchair Passenger Transport, Westbus Coach Services Ltd and is the joint operator along with Stagecoach of Scottish Citylink Coaches Ltd.

ComfortDelGro MD and Group CEO, Mr Kua Hong Pak, said, ‘Business conditions continue to be challenging. We have, and will, continue to look for new avenues of growth especially in the overseas markets where our businesses contributed 51.1% to total Group operating profit in the third quarter.’
