Cardiff Bus launching night services

Cardiff Bus has announced it will be launching new night buses on some of its routes from 18 September. They will operate hourly on route 18 seven days a week, linking Canton, Ely and Caerau with the city centre. The operator will also be running night buses for service 38 on Thursday night to Friday morning, Friday night to Saturday morning and Saturday night to Sunday morning. As well as following the normal 38 route to and from the city centre, buses will extend along Western Avenue to Talybont and Tesco Extra, Western Avenue. Normal fares will apply on the buses and weekly, monthly or annual passes can be used. Customers will also be able to purchase a new ‘night return’ ticket which will be introduced from the same date. These tickets will be sold on routes 17/18 and 38/38A from 18:00 daily for £3 adult or £2 for young persons under 19 years old.

Commercial Manager at Cardiff Bus, Gareth Stevens, said, ‘Cardiff is a great city and has a lot to offer in the evenings and we wanted to ensure that our customers can enjoy the city in the night without having to worry about getting home. The new night buses should also be beneficial for those who work night shifts or work very early in the morning. Hopefully it will make their commute a lot easier. For people that already have weekly, monthly and annual passes, they will be able to use this service at no extra cost so hopefully it will help to save our customers money.’
