BYD electric bus trialled in Spain

Sant Cugat, a Spanish city in the region of Barcelona, is trialling an electric powered 12m ebus from BYD for two years. The Chinese manufacturer’s electric buses are also being used in Madrid and Barcelona. The latest of these vehicles to enter the country is being operated by Moventis, part of the Moventia group. It joins another three low emission buses recently launched in the municipal public transport fleet. With a 70 passenger capacity, it has a 250km range with a battery recharge time of five hours. In addition, it has a regenerative braking system which recovers energy to the battery during deceleration.
