Bus priority evidence sought

In partnership with PTEG, Greener Journeys, Campaign for Better Transport and TfL, CPT is producing some evidence based material to help make an attractive and compelling case for bus priority. It will be aimed at decision makers and other non-technical audiences. The document will set out the basic reasoning behind and hard benefits of bus priority measures. It will outline the different forms of bus priority in place, whilst also detailing how it can be part of wider traffic management schemes that improve conditions for all road users. The trade body is keen to share some successful and attractive case studies (preferably where the scheme was originally opposed but once implemented has proved successful) along with some supporting pictures. CPT is requesting any statistics or research to help further support the case, such as hard facts on bus lanes that have helped create more reliable and/or shorter bus journey times, also bus gateways that have led to a reduction in fuel use or an increase in passenger numbers.
