BOOK REVIEW: D&G Bus
In 1998, David Reeves and Gerald Henderson, both then employees of Staffordshire Ambulance Service, commenced a minibus operation from the former Longton Bus Station in the Potteries. The business grew quickly with David moving in to a full-time role as a roller-coaster of sales and acquisitions saw expansion into Crewe and the West Midlands while the Potteries operation was sold to Arriva, only to be re-acquired several years later.
Sadly, both Gerald and David were to pass away at an early age, not witnessing the further growth of the company as Arriva operations in Cheshire and South Staffordshire were acquired to grow the fleet larger than their main competitor, First Potteries. Centrebus had acquired David Reeves share of the business in 2019. Cliff Beeton has put together a comprehensive overview of the D&G fleet carrying a multitude of liveries over the past 26 years, not surprisingly dominated by the business’ stalwarts over that period, the Optare Solo and AD Enviro 200.
