Baumot UK in administration

Collapsing markets due to Covid-19 has been cited by Germany’s Baumot Group AG as the main reason for the Group and its subsidiaries including Twintec Technologie GmbH and Baumot Technologie GmbH filing in early January for bankruptcy protection in Germany. The clean mobility solutions company has been severely impacted by the lockdown-driven turndown in business, particular in its key export markets of Israel, the UK and Italy. The Group continues to trade whilst its management prepares a plan to restructure the business on a sound basis for the future.

As a consequence and recognising the renewed lockdown in the UK, the Group has placed its Silverstone based UK business, Baumot UK Ltd, into administration. An entry in The Gazette for 26 January 2021 names James Fish and Jason Mark Elliott of Cowgill Holloway Business Recovery LLP, Regency House, 45-53 Chorley New Road, Bolton, BL1 4QR as the administrators. In response to an approach by Bus and Coach Buyer, a representative of the Administrators advised that the company had now ceased trading.

Baumot were a major supplier of retrofit solutions to meet emission limits across a wide range of vehicles including PCVs. It was one of five suppliers chosen by TfL for the capital’s £86.1m retrofit programme to bring all London’s buses up to at least Euro VI standard by 2020.
