Arriva Guildford depot sale to Falcon not happening

Talks to secure a potential sale of Arriva’s Guildford depot to Falcon Coaches have ended, with no sale to take place.

Arriva announced it was to close the site earlier this month. It was then announced that Falcon Coaches was in talks with Arriva to acquire the depot from them.

A spokesperson from Arriva said: “Arriva UK Bus had been in advanced discussions with Falcon Coaches about a potential sale of our operations in Guildford, but unfortunately these talks have not progressed. We have informed our colleagues that our consultation process will continue as we explore a proposal to close the depot.

“Our priority will be to safeguard jobs, where possible, through re-deployment to other parts of our business should we proceed with the closure. We continue to work with our Trade Union partners and with Surrey County Council to safeguard services for the local community through other operators.”
