Adonis on the buses

Labour’s Shadow Infrastructure Minister, Andrew Adonis, spent last week riding London’s buses to get a better idea how the network works. He aimed to cover 50 routes across the capital, including the most congested and most popular. To gain an insight, he talked to both drivers and passengers. He blogged his findings in The Independent, where he reported his daily experiences. In his first report, he described buses as the ‘poor relation’ to the Tube and train and highlighted the fact they carry twice as many passengers as the Underground. He described buses as playing a ‘crucial’ part in the development of the areas they serve, but mentioned the biggest problem he encountered was buses getting trapped in bottlenecks.
