DfT Ministers reshuffled

As part of the Government reshuffle at the start of this month, the DfT has added a new face and Lillian Greenwood MP takes on a new position.

Keir Mather, Labour MP for Selby and Kippax, has been appointed to the position of Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the DfT.

Commenting on his new role, he said on social media: “It’s a privilege to join Heidi Alexander and a fantastic team of Ministers. Keeping Britain moving is central to achieving economic growth. Looking forward to getting started!”

Lillian Greenwood, MP for Nottingham South, is ‘delighted’ to be reappointed to the DfT in a new role as Local Transport Minister. She was previously Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Future of Roads.

Lillian commented on social media: “I am so chuffed to also be continuing my work in the Whips team as we continue to drive forward this Labour government’s agenda and work to rebuild a transport system Britain can rely on.”

Heidi Alexander, Secretary of State for Transport and Simon Lightwood, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State (Minister for Local Transport), remain in place.

Commenting on the reshuffle, RHA MD, Richard Smith, said: “I would like to congratulate Keir Mather MP on being appointed as a Minister at the Department of Transport.

“His is a new role with responsibility for freight and borders, decarbonisation and electric vehicles – and we very much look forward to supporting him on these key areas of interest to our industry.

“We also look forward to continuing our good working relationships with Simon Lightwood MP and Lilian Greenwood who returns to DfT overseeing local transport.”
