21 Enviro200s for Sunderland

Following a £2.5m investment, Stagecoach North East has unveiled 21 new Euro5 ADL Enviro200s for the Sunderland area. Ten of the buses went into service last week, with the remaining 11 due to arrive over the forthcoming weeks. They replace Euro2 emission Pointer 2 Darts, which are being cascaded into Newcastle placing older ALX200 Darts in reserve.

Operations Manager at Sunderland Depot, Stagecoach North East, Rachel Geliamassi, said, ‘We’re thrilled to be introducing these new, lower emission buses to Sunderland after an investment of £2.5m from Stagecoach. To have 21 new lower emission buses on the road across the city is fantastic and another step forward on our green agenda. We’re constantly investing in and improving our buses and services, whether that is to make them more energy efficient, more comfortable for our customers, or more disability friendly. Later this year we’ll also start the process to welcome some of the first gas buses in the UK to the Sunderland Depot, which is further testament to our commitment to investing into the region, as well as reducing our environmental impact.’
