18 Enviro 200s for Bluestar

Southampton based Bluestar, owned by Go Ahead Group, has purchased 18 ADL Enviro200s which will operate on its 18 route. £3m has been invested in the vehicles which link Thornhill, Bitterne, Shirley, Millbrook and the City Centre.

Representatives from Southampton City Council – including Leader of the Council, Simon Letts and Cabinet Member for Environment and Transport, Jacqui Rayment, were at the official launch with MD of Bluestar, Andrew Wickham. He commented, ‘We are incredibly proud of our new vehicles and this is good news for both commuters and leisure passengers wishing to travel across Southampton. Customers here were very clear about the enhancements they wanted to see on this popular service and we have listened to them. On-board technology includes free WiFi and USB charging points for smartphones and hand-held devices.

Councillor Rayment added, ‘I’m delighted to see this fleet of impressive new buses for the Bluestar 18 route. It follows hot on the heels of bus service enhancements here in Southampton – and the introduction of a new service to the General Hospital.’
