Job Description

Coach Tours & Travel of Wolverhampton currently have a vacancy for a Transport Coordinator to assist run and promote our day to day and tour operations as well as contract work.

Based at our Depot in Wolverhampton the successful applicant should be a pro-active, ambitious individual with an emphasis on customer care who will strengthen our team.

You will assist our current team in the day to day running of the coach and tours business including man-management, planning and business development; assist the operations team by overseeing all aspects of the business and ensuring compliance throughout.

The successful candidate will have strong leadership qualities, excellent people management skills, good UK and European knowledge, be a team player and able to make decisions under pressure whilst remaining calm. Hands on attitude and excellent problem-solving skills are essential to the smooth running of the business.

You will play a key role in the company’s development by having the ability to identify opportunities which will grow the business.

Skills Required

• Effectively and continuously manage transport activities of licence holder to a standard beyond that is required by DVSA

• Allocate work and prepare all vehicle routes on a day to day basis.

• Advise drivers of their duties

• Driving as required

• Ensure drivers comply with driver hours, tachograph rules and speed limits

• Assist with the organising all repairs, damages, inspections and MOT’s for all vehicles

• Arrange with workshop foreman to ensure vehicles are maintained, inspections are carried out at appropriate time scales and to ensure tacho checks and calibrations are booked and carried out when required

• Keeping track of all vehicles while out on the road making sure drivers are using the most economical route.

• Manage drivers

• Disciplinary action if needed

• Manage Health & Safety

• Keeping all records for vehicle inspections, internal and external. Also ensuring any defects are dealt with quickly and cost-effectively.

• Keeping all vehicles to a legal roadworthy state and working with drivers and staff to ensure all daily checks are done.

• Liaise and negotiate with suppliers to ensure we have the most cost effective purchasing agreements.

Previous experience with a proven track record as well as an up to date PCV licence and relevant DCPC is required. We do operate tours in to Europe so prior knowledge in this area is desirable.
