EVM lands distribution for Karsan buses

Horsham-based EVM has signed a distribution agreement with Karsan for the e-Jest and e-Atak for UK and Ireland markets.

The growing stable of products at EVM, which now includes Evener, Altas, Isuzu, Ferqui, Mercedes-Benz and other coachbuilts and van conversions, will be joined by the e-Jest, which will be exhibited at this year’s Euro Bus Expo on the Karsan stand. The e-Atak will be ready in right-hand drive to UK specification for late 2025.

EVM’s Managing Director, Danny McGee, told Bus & Coach Buyer: “The e-Jest demo vehicle will be on the ground for December 2024 and UK specific deliveries will start from March 2025.

“We’ve followed the advances at Karsan since 2019 and before Covid struck, had a DRT scheme interested in their product. Since then, we’ve had numerous visits to the factory.” Danny said the market for the e-Jest could be the DRT sector, airports and other niches but was fairly untested: “We’re not afraid to try and create a bit of a market for it.”

e-Jest is a very small. 5.8-metre electric bus which can be configured for up to 22 passengers including standees. It has a large double centre door. Range is said to be around 210km (130 miles). e-Atak is an 8-metre bus with a maximum capacity of 52 passengers and a range of 300km (186 miles), or a 12-metre bus with a 105 passenger limit. It has already been tested in an autonomous version, which could have a big market for off-highway airport shuttles.
