Eberspächer UK moves ahead in a big way

Systems

Whilst air conditioning is an important market area for Eberspächer UK, vehicle heating systems remain equally as important and continue to be developed.

There are two different systems produced: the Hydronic and the Airtronic. The Hydronic systems use heated water to distribute the heat around the vehicle, whilst Airtronic uses an air system for delivery.

Operators will be familiar with the Hydronic system as it has been with us many years. However, development is constant and the products are constantly updated and improved. The H4 and H5 are the most common in our sector providing heat outputs of 1,500 to 4,300W for the H4, and 1,500 to 5,000W for the H5 but the Eberspächer UK range goes much further. The M range spans power outputs of 8,000 to 12,000W whilst the L range goes from 16,000W to 35,000W.

Again the Airtronic system will be familiar but again the span may not be. In our industry units like the 850 to 2,200W D2; 1,300 to 3,880W B4; the 900 to 4,000W D4 and D4 Plus and the D5 1,600 to 5,500W systems will be the most familiar. But again Eberspächer take the systems much further up to the 3,500 to 8,000W D8LC and the V7S 3,000 to 12,000W systems.

At the other end of the scale they have recently developed heating and air conditioning systems for use in electric vehicles. Electric vehicles have a particular problem in this area because there is no engine to provide hot water to produce heat or a vehicle drive system to supply the air conditioning. Heat is provided by either one of the diesel (or Ethanol) fuelled heaters or a PTC high voltage water heater. Electric heating results in a major drain on the power availability and reduction in the vehicle’s range. Air conditioning systems are also sophisticated using a high voltage compressor with full system supply.

The Eberspächer UK air conditioning systems for minibuses and coaches again continue to evolve. Earlier this year the company introduced new EV and HV ranges of modular air conditioning climate control units. They also introduced new control panels which are much simpler and easier to use.
