Chapman Seating’s All-Ride makes debut

Chapman Seating gained much attention at Euro Bus Expo for its next generation of drivers seats: the All-Ride.

The new seats have been created with the company’s existing design focuses in mind (comfort, failsafe and maintainable), as well as with the additions of inclusivity and sustainability.

They feature no foam, instead using spring mattresses from luxury mattress provider Harrison Spinks. This is intended to provide a more comfortable, longer lasting and more environmentally friendly solution.

The seat has a fan system that draws air through it for ventilation, which the company considers a ‘game changer’. It is intended to improve the seat’s comfort and hygiene levels, particularly on hot days or over long driving shifts. It is one of the design elements incorporated following its work with Women in Bus and Coach, who identified it as a potential improvement.

The seat’s cushions can also be removed and replaced, making maintenance easier when the seat needs a retrim. The seat back has also been altered to accommodate even more driver sizes. It has a series of settings that have a number of seat positionnings saved, meaning a driver can select their stored position preference rather than having to adjust it every time they start a shift.

To be offered for both retrofit and OEM installation, the new All-Ride seat is expected to enter production in spring or summer next year.

The All-Ride is currently being trialled by National Express West Midlands.
