Another B9R for Barnes

Swindon based Barnes Coaches has added another Volvo B9R to its 30 strong fleet. Powered by the rear mounted nine-litre Volvo D9B engine coupled with the Volvo I-Shift 12-speed fully automated mechanical gearbox, the coach is specified with 53 seats, a TV, a DVD player, a sound system, a generous luggage space and an on board centre mounted toilet.

Barnes Coaches’ Luke Barnes said, ‘We’ve specified Volvo B9R coaches in the past. In fact 40% of our current fleet is now built on the Volvo chassis. They’ve always been good quality, reliable vehicles for us. The coaches we’ve had have proved economic on fuel, which is a huge positive for us and that has undoubtedly played a part in our decision to specify Volvo again on this occasion. Back-up and support supplied by the local Volvo dealership at Wales and West is another key factor. It is good to have that level of reassurance that if anything did go wrong, it will get sorted quickly and efficiently.’
