Veteran inspires Belle Vue

Ten minutes’ chat was all it took to inspire Belle Vue MD, Phil Hitchen, to make Francis House Children’s Hospice the company’s charity of the year. It was 90-year-old war veteran, Harold Addie, he spoke to during a trip to Normandy with the Stockport and District Normandy Veterans Association to France to mark the 70th anniversary of D-Day in June last year. Harold has been a supporter and fundraiser for Francis House for 20 years and related his work to Phil during the journey. Harold’s fundraising activities for Francis House down the years have included abseiling the North Stand at Old Trafford, and walking from the west coast of Wales to the east coast of England with his pet Jack Russell, Snowy.
