VDL to launch Euro Streetlite at Busworld

At Busworld 2013 in Kortrijk, VDL Bus & Coach will be showing two new models in the Citea range for the first time, one of which will already be familiar to UK operators. It is the new Citea MLE (Midi Low Entry) which is actually a left hand drive version of the Wrightbus Streetlite built in Northern Ireland. VDL describe the link up with Wrightbus as ‘a logical next step in a collaboration that spans more than a decade. With the arrival of the Citea MLE this cooperation will be intensified even further.’

The MLE is to be offered initially in lengths of 8.8m and 9.5m as the MLE-88 and MLE-95, both wheel forward designs, followed by the 10.2m and 10.8m MLE-102 and MLE-108 which have a door forward layout. All will be powered by Euro6 Cummins engines. An 8.8m MLE88 version will appear on the VDL stand.

Additionally, VDL will be showing the Citea SLFA, an articulated city and inter-city bus offered at lengths of 18m and 18.7m. The shorter of the two lengths is to be shown at the exhibition. A Citea LLE-120 will also be present at the show. VDL is in Hall 4 at stand 404.

VDL’s 12m Citea Electric low floor bus will be located in the outdoor area adjacent to its stand. Demonstration rides of this vehicle will be available. Busworld 2013 takes place from 18 to 23 October. Also on the outside stand will be a MidCity and a MidEuro, both of which are based on the face-lifted Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. The new bus options are in addition to the launch of the new Futura FMD2 coach at Busworld.
