Tower Travel ceases trading

Tower Travel ceased trading on 26 September 2016. The York based operator ran school services, as well as private hire. Meetings have been held at St Aidan’s Church of England High School and St John Fisher Catholic High School following the sudden announcement to discuss replacement services to the schools. At the time of going to press, Connexions Buses and A and A Coaches were providing replacement services for the school services Route 9 and Route 10. St Aidan’s has informed parents of its pupils affected that if they paid Tower Travel by credit card to contact their credit card provider immediately as it may be possible to recover fares paid for bus passes.

A notice on St John Fisher’s website said, ‘At 04.43 this morning a parent alerted us to the fact that Tower Travel have ceased trading with immediate effect. They did not inform us, but in their letter to parents they advised them to contact the schools to put contingency arrangements in place. Obviously this was impossible because they did not tell us! And

as you can probably gather we don’t have two buses and two bus drivers available! We will give the situation our attention this morning and see what can be facilitated.’
