Stagecoach sixth most admired

Stagecoach Group has been named the sixth most admired business in the UK in the Britain’s Most Admired Companies (BMAC) 2013 Awards, held by the BSI Group. The operator was also voted the top transport operator in the survey. Nearly 250 businesses across 26 sectors took part in the awards. Go-Ahead Group was ranked 98th in the league, with National Express coming 129th, Arriva 205th and FirstGroup 240th. The top ten in the rankings included Diageo, Berkley Group, Unilever, John Lewis Partnership, Croda, Johnson Matthey, Paddy Power Bookmakers, easyJet and Derwent London. The companies were rated using nine measures on a scale of zero to ten. Criteria it was judged on included: financial soundness; community and environmental responsibility; value as a long-term investment; quality of goods and services; use of corporate assets; quality of marketing; innovation; ability to attract, develop and retain top talent; and quality of management. Stagecoach achieved a Top 10 ranking for a number of individual criteria. It was rated joint third for community and environmental responsibility, fourth for innovation, eighth for its use of corporate assets and joint 10th for the quality of its management.
