Stagecoach invests in South Shields

Stagecoach North East has invested over £2.2m in 19 ADL Enviro200s for its fleet in South Shields. The buses have free Wi-Fi and improved seating for passengers. They are being introduced on services 3, 4, 7 and 8, which link the town centre and Harton Nook. Featuring a ‘connecting the DOTS’ theme, they are designed to highlight the connections available along the routes and the flexibility on offer for passengers when travelling across the area.

MD of Stagecoach North East, Phil Medlicott, said, ‘We are delighted to launch the first of these new vehicles for the South Shields region, with the rest of the new buses coming onboard shortly. This is great news for our customers and a fantastic addition to the local Stagecoach bus fleet. Buses are critical to the local economy and so we have invested to improve the experience for customers and make it as easy as possible to travel within their community, connecting people to the many amenities and attractions in South Shields. With the addition of free Wi-Fi, being able to work remotely, connect with friends via social networks or even check the latest journey information online will help make bus travel more productive.’
