Stagecoach app spreads

The Stagecoach app has now been rolled out to its South Yorkshire and North East Derbyshire operations. It allows passengers to buy weekly megarider tickets online, as well as child and student tickets, alongside day fares which have been available since November 2016. Once downloaded, the tickets can be used on any Stagecoach bus and Supertram services. Payments via the app can be made by PayPal or via debit or credit card. The payment option was introduced in 2016 and is available free of charge for Apple and Android mobile phones. The app not only provides mobile ticketing, but journey planning information and a simple journey planning tool that uses interactive maps. The smartphone GPS system helps customers identify their nearest bus stop and the most suitable service for their journey requirements, while additional information, including journey length and available fare options, are also provided.

MD of Stagecoach Yorkshire, Matt Davies, said, ‘We live in a digital era in which more and more people use their smartphones for everyday activities, from mobile banking to online shopping. It was therefore only logical that we make tickets available to purchase on the Stagecoach Bus app. We continue to develop ways we can improve and enhance our services, and we hope this latest update will benefit customers throughout the region.’
