Solos for Tourist Coaches

Go-Ahead owned Tourist Coaches has invested £370,000 in three new Optare Solos for use on its services in Salisbury. The vehicles are running between the city and surrounding areas. They are the first to feature lighter floor colours, which the operator claims helps make them dementia friendly. The idea of the floors came after the operator’s parent company, Go South Coast, worked with the Alzheimer’s Society to ensure its buses are dementia friendly.

MD, Andrew Wickham, said, ‘Many of those with the disease are uneasy about crossing darker floors – fearing them to be like “black holes”. We wanted to make our new buses more accessible for all – and this was one aspect of that.’
