Simonds choose Volvo MCV

Diss based Simonds has taken delivery of two MCV bodied Volvo B7RLEs, both resplendent in the operator’s CountryLink livery. Power for them comes from a Volvo Euro5 290hp engine matched to a ZF Ecolife six-speed gearbox. They are specified with 44 Vogel seats, an eight camera Synectics CCTV system and Hanover LED destination equipment. GreenRoad technology is fitted; this is a standard feature on all of the operator’s fleet.

Engineering Director, Adrian Tant, said, ‘Choice of vehicle was decided upon after a six month evaluation of various manufacturers’ products. The decision process included whole life cost, fuel economy, reliability and after sales service. This coupled with customer feedback and driver/engineering department observations assisted the board in making their decision. The two new vehicles are part of Simonds business plan to continually invest in the fleet, keeping the business moving forward.’
MD, Martyn Simonds, said, ‘The provision of these two new low floor DDA vehicles will ensure that our commitment to the environment and the provision of high standards of customer care and comfort is maintained. We have been very pleased with their performance and have received excellent comments from drivers and customers alike.’
