Showbus preview

Showbus, the UK’s biggest bus and coach rally, is being held at a new venue at Long Marston Airfield, just south of Stratford-upon-Avon, on 22 September. The event has attracted entries from across the UK and abroad, including the show debut of Darren Cunningham’s Greyhound Scenicruiser, the iconic American Greyhound coach of the fifties. There will also be a British Greyhound coach from First Bus in Swansea displayed, as well as another American vehicle, a 1942 Gillig in the colours of Lady Liberty Tours. The latter has been converted into a motor home, though great care has been taken to save all the original fittings which could be restored if necessary. To mark 90 years since Midland Red started building its own buses, initially branded SOS, two surviving models from local museums at Wythall and Aston Manor will form part of displays each will be mounting.
